The London Bike Kitchen is a mechanic owned & operated open DIY workshop where you can work on your own bike instead of giving it to someone else. Consider us a Do-It-Together education space.Come to our drop in sessions Tuesday - Sunday and work on whatever you like. We don't take bookings, it's first come first served. There is always a mechanic on hand to answer your questions. We sell most things you'd find in a regular bike shop, and if you don't see it, we can order it.
The cost is £14/hour, (we charge by the half hour, minimum charge is a half hour) - this gives you access to all tools, cleaning & greasing materials, and our brains.
There is a full tool library available, an environmentally friendly parts washer, and classes to build skills. Our classes include Intro to Bike Maintenance, Wheel Building, and Build Your Own Bike (BYOB). We also host women & gender-variant (WAG) nights and women of colour (WOC) meet ups in conjunction with Jools Walker.

Got a puncture nearby this morning. Helpful guy had it fixed in 5 and directed me to cafe along the way while I waited. My favourite puncture ever. Made me stop for a coffee on the way to work and the chaps in LBK were really friendly. Made my day!
I built my bike at this workshop over the period of a few weeks. It's great to have experience and advice on hand, but also the full array of tools. Very reasonably priced to use their space and knowledge. Its given me the confidence to service my other bike, change the derailleur, re-cable, new cassette etc. Worth going if you want to learn DIY bike maintenance.
The two evenings of beginners bike maintenance passed by so quickly. A great blend of the transference of hard won knowledge and real life insights. what I most enjoyed was the great enthusiasm for cycling in general and the apparent joy in passing that on to a wider audience. Loved it and can highly recommend . thank you!
