Planning your next adventure, or just a socially distanced visit to your new friend's house?
Join us Thursday 4 March at 7pm as we discuss free apps for your mobile phone and computer that help you get around. Perfect for beginners!
This class is aimed at route planning newbies, not Garmin gazing pros. Speaking of which, we will NOT be covering how to use a Garmin nor a Wahoo.
In our next online class we'll go over how to map a route using your phone and offline maps:
- Ride with GPS
- Guru Maps
- City riding with City Mapper and Google Maps
We'll talk about making GPX files, choosing the best route for the type of journey you want, and welcome a special guest from Komoot, Eleanor Jaskowska!
I'll also touch on some more practical things, like how to mount your phone, and how to keep it charged.
Can't join at 7? No problemo, you'll still get a link of the recording sent to you the next day, available to watch till the next class. (We have to make room on Zoom to download videos.)
HOW THIS WORKS
1) you register and pay (the extra 1 pence is so we can easily tell if a purchase is a class or merch to send out)
2) we will send you a link to join the webinar the night before
3) make sure you download Zoom to your laptop or phone
4) click the link at the time of your class and enjoy! You will not be visible on camera, so go ahead and show up with no makeup/pants/etc
ABOUT LBK ONLINE
Covid19 has robbed us of our raison d’être - but we are hungry to teach you how to fix your own bike. So online we go!
We will be using Zoom. I’ve used it in the past for group counselling sessions and the quality is very good. It’s easy to use, but if it’s your first time, pop that cherry by getting to know Zoom a bit before you log into one of our classes. Be sure to download the app for your browser or smartphone beforehand.
This short tutorial helped me figure out how to build my routes. Although I only travel in the city, I do not know all areas, understanding how to build your route is an important skill even for a city. Now I know more tools than regular googlemaps and feel more confident going out into the city. Plus, all lessons are friendly, fun and engaging. Thanks lbk!
Still have no idea ... But presentation and explanation was very good....need to learn how best to use my wahoo element to its full potential
Simple, clear, well paced, new. Jenni judged what new planners would need and kept just enough stretch for functionality to inspire newish rude leaders or independent riders. (And walkers).
Thoroughly enjoyable session and made me feel confident in having a go at route planning, as I tend to 'follow the person in front', or Google maps. Highly recommend.
Excellent class giving useful info and demonstrations on how to go about route planning. I had used Ride with GPS a little before but I still learned some new tricks and tips. It was a good introduction to Komoot also which I’ve now signed up for I’ve always known where I was and now there’s a really good chance I’ll know where my destination is too and how to get there!
