ONE AUDAX TO RULE THEM ALL

The Paris-Brest-Paris (PBP) ride is the pinnacle of all Audaxes. (Audaxing/Randonneuring is the cycling tradition of riding for very long distances - over 100k, usually around 200-300k - in one go.) PBP in particular has a rich heritage and tradition as it started all the way back in 1891.

Every 4 years, participants come from all over the world to cover 1,200km (750 miles) in 80/84/90 hours (participants choose the total hours in which they think they can complete it.) It's the closest you'll come to a party on a bike with inhabitants from small French towns cheering you on through the days and nights.

PBP is not a race; it is a truly unique experience that requires careful planning. The next PBP takes place in 2023. Wanna be on the starting-line? Find out from veteran audaxer and LBK mechanic Claire on how to get there. The first half will be Jenni interviewing Claire about her experience; to be followed by audience Q&A.

No tools needed - this is an information sharing session, not a fix-a-long (that would take for-e-ver). We expect this to take 1 - 1.5 hours (max!)

When: Friday 10 April 1pm

Where: online! Buy your ticket here, and we'll send you a link the day before.

Claire Francis is a sports massage therapist and bike mechanic. She completed Paris-Brest-Paris in 2019.

HOW THIS WORKS

1) you register and pay

2) we will send you a link to join the webinar the day before

3) make sure you download Zoom to your laptop or phone beforehand

4) click the link to join at the assigned time and enjoy! You will not be visible on camera, so go ahead and show up with no makeup/pants/etc

ABOUT LBK ONLINE

Covid19 has robbed us of our raison d’être - but we are hungry to teach you how to fix your own bike. So online we go!

We will be using Zoom. I’ve used it in the past for group counselling sessions and the quality is very good. It’s easy to use, but if it’s your first time, pop that cherry by getting to know Zoom a bit before you log into one of our classes. Be sure to download the app for your browser or smartphone beforehand.

We will be charging on a scale, for a couple reasons:

  1. Learning online is not the same as learning IRL
  2. Some people have just lost their jobs and might not be able to afford a full priced class
  3. We are also struggling, and would greatly appreciate some assistance
  4. We’ve never done this before so we can’t go charging our usual rates for something that might go tits up

Please give what you can! £2 / £9 / £19

Great Webinar PBP with Claire and Jenni!!

It has most than exceeded my expectation! It is hard to find info about randonneur and how to start, how to eat, the bicycle, etc. Everything was covered here at the planned time! Regarding the quality I must say that I am used with very low quality Skype meetings but Zoom was perfect! No noise, clear voices and perfect switch from presentator and images. I would like to join some more webinars like this. Maybe emergency fix in randonee, how start training, or wheelbuilding. Thank you for arrange the webinar.

Loved it!

The webinar was super interesting and well facilitated. I only watched a recording, but even so, really enjoyed the topics covered, the pace of the session and the interactions. Would really recommend joining a webinar through LBK if you want to learn something new and exciting about bikes and cycling!
